RSLC Shatters Second Quarter Odd-Year Fundraising Record

RSLC and SGLF Combine for Best First Six Months of Any Two-Year Cycle in Groups' History

WASHINGTON, D.C - The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) and its strategic policy partner, the State Government Leadership Foundation (SGLF), today announced that the groups raised a combined $6.5 million in the second quarter fundraising period. The record breaking haul also puts RSLC and SGLF in their best financial position over the first six months of any two-year cycle in the groups’ histories, raising a combined $10.7 million.

The committee’s historic second quarter was fueled by the continued growth of its digital fundraising program, which raised 710% more than it did in the second quarter of 2020. Some additional statistics for the RSLC’s online fundraising program during the second quarter are as follows:

  • Number of new online donors: 10,843

  • Average donation: $20.48

  • Total raised online: $1.5 million

  • *The committee raised more online during one week in June than it did online in the first and second quarters of 2020 combined.*

“What we have done to continue last cycle’s streak of breaking fundraising records quarter after quarter has been a remarkable feat and will have us well positioned to make the early investments necessary to support state Republicans as they hold the line against Democrat-controlled Washington,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “But no broken record warrants a day off when the Democrats are again mobilizing the likes of Barack Obama, Eric Holder, and Nancy Pelosi to flip statehouses blue in 2022. Our team knows that everything is at stake this cycle and we look forward to further enhancing our fundraising efforts in months to come so we can be ready to meet the challenge.”

As Fox News reported this morning,

  • "The RSLC told Fox News its second-quarter haul has 'allowed the committee to invest in its commitment to supporting diverse candidates who better reflect their communities.' The RSLC has thus far donated over 55% of its six-figure, direct- contribution, second-quarter budget to women and minority candidates who will be on the ballot in New Jersey and Virginia in 2021."

This latest achievement for the RSLC and SGLF adds to the streak of consecutive record-breaking fundraising quarters the groups have notched dating back to 2019. It also supplements the RSLC’s strength in special elections in 2021, as the committee has defended all Republican-held seats that have been on the ballot across the country, including two New England districts that President Biden won in 2020. These electoral successes come on the heels of a 2020 election where the RSLC beat back over $500 million in total Democrat state spending to hold all 59 of its Republican chambers, flip two more, and add two trifectas.

Despite the RSLC’s momentum, Democrats are again tapping national Democrats like Barack Obama, Eric Holder, and Nancy Pelosi in an effort to raise even more than the $500 million they spent last cycle in state races. They explained their 2020 losses to Politico in March by saying, “If we had been better funded in the 2020 election, we could have prevented some of this from happening.”
