HIGHLIGHTS

The Ruthless team on the importance of the RSLC

JOSH HOLMES: This is the outfit that dedicates all its time and resources to recruiting candidates, funding candidates, training candidates at local and state levels.

COMFORTABLY SMUG: Which is very, very important. That is key work. Because you want to get our folks there on the state level. They can do a huge difference. You look at what our governors have done, when we talk about state legislators they play a very key role in drawing maps, everything. They are very key.

Dee Duncan on the impact of candidate recruitment in the 2021 election and beyond

"That's something we've been focused on at RSLC for a couple of cycles. We know that the only way forward for the Party is to have a diverse set of candidates. Candidates from their communities who believe in their communities, speak like their communities, who understand their communities. Because if not, there's no way forward. It's not just the next person up who was the secretary of the county Republican Party. It's gotta be a targeted effort. So we rolled out the Right Leaders Network which was focused on that. We had a great rollout there. And you hit on two of those candidates. Winsome Sears, Jason Miyares. And of our 7 flips, 4 of those 7 were either women or minorities. You're not hearing about that.

Dee Duncan on how Democrats are responding to their losses in November by doubling down on their radical liberal agenda and pledging to spend even more in 2022

“I think their (Democrats’) big takeaway was they need to be more progressive. You know the States Project came out the Friday after the election and said we are going to convene this big group and we are going to spend $31 more million to elect state Democrats as long as they are progressive.”

Dee Duncan on how the RSLC’s Right Leaders Network and its mentorship program will help grow the future of the Republican Party

"As part of the RLN, we had Senator Tim Scott, Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Marsha Blackburn, Congresswoman Young Kim, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson all who were former state legislators. And we're going to pair them you know with folks who are running across the country because they were in these same shoes, whether it was 2 years ago, 3 years ago, 10 years ago. So we want to help them make sure they're getting good guidance from people who have actually done it. But then we're also going to help on the training side because you know, a lot of these people have never run for office. And that's what we need - people who have never run for office. So the nuances of digital fundraising, the day to day grind of these things, they have no idea what to do. So we're going to be there for them to help train them and get them across the finish line."
