RSLC Statement: Republican Wilton Simpson Flips Florida Agriculture Commissioner’s Office

Simpson’s Victory Gives GOP Control of Every Statewide Elected Agriculture Office in Country

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Wilton Simpson tonight defeated Democrat Naomi Blemur to flip Florida’s agriculture commissioner’s office from blue to red. This victory gives Republicans control of all 12 statewide elected agriculture offices in the country.

“The people of Florida made a great choice tonight in electing Wilton Simpson to be their next agriculture commissioner,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “Wilton knows first-hand the struggles facing Florida farmers and his experience successfully guiding the state Senate has him well prepared to hit the ground running and make positive change on day one. Congratulations to Wilton on running a fantastic campaign. We look forward to seeing him continue to push back against the Biden agenda and deliver results for all Floridians.”

The RSLC spent a total of over $600,000 in support of Simpson throughout the race. This includes the $300,000 independent expenditure campaign the committee launched in August touting his record as a fighter for the conservative movement in Tallahassee.
