RSLC-JFI Congratulates Judge Kevin Brobson on Election to Pennsylvania's Supreme Court

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Republican State Leadership Committee’s Judicial Fairness Initiative (JFI) congratulates Republican Kevin Brobson for defeating Democrat Maria McLaughlin in tonight’s election for Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court. Brobson was supported by JFI in both his primary and general elections. His victory holds the line for Republicans on the commonwealth’s high court and will allow for a Republican majority to still be within reach as early as 2027.

Despite the onslaught of headlines we saw at the beginning of the year that Pennsylvania Republicans were too divided to win statewide following the 2020 election, Judge Kevin Brobson ran an outstanding campaign and proved the doubters wrong,” said JFI Vice President Andrew Wynne. “The Republican State Leadership Committee’s Judicial Fairness Initiative was proud to be part of the independent effort to keep this seat out of Democrat hands and set the tone for Republican success in the Keystone State in the midterms. Congratulations to Judge Brobson, who will be a strong champion for the Constitution and will rule on the law as written.”

OVERVIEW OF JFI’S SUPPORT OF BROBSON

JFI spent $250,000 in the primary, including polling and a cable television buy. JFI spent $1.375 million in the general election on polling, broadcast and cable TV, and text messaging.TV ad that ran in the Philadelphia and Harrisburg markets.TV ad that ran in the Pittsburgh and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre markets.

ABOUT JFI

Led by Barack Obama and Eric Holder, Democrats are fighting to transform the traditional role of the judiciary from an arbiter of the facts and the law to an advocate for the liberal political agenda. The RSLC’s Judicial Fairness Initiative (JFI) is the only national political effort focused exclusively on halting this transformation by protecting the election and selection of state court judges. JFI provides critical information about judicial candidates in an environment where voters are routinely left in the dark about a candidate’s qualifications for the bench. JFI fills that gap by providing the facts and analysis voters need to cast informed votes for judicial office. Since its formation, JFI has raised and spent more than $21 million in states across the country, including Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Arkansas, Louisiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. JFI ran direct mail campaigns in 2017 in support of Justice Thomas Saylor’s retention and Justice Sally Mundy’s re-election.
