RSLC Announces New Round of Candidates in ‘2021 Virginia Candidate Spotlights’ Series
Washington, DC — The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) today announced a new round of candidates for its “2021 Virginia Spotlight Candidates” series. The RSLC is proud to support Republicans like these who are fighting to expand opportunity in Virginia and push back against the failed policies from Democrat-controlled Richmond.
The slate of candidates running for the House of Delegates demonstrate the RSLC’s commitment to expanding the future of the party with candidates that have deep ties to the communities they represent. Virginia’s Republican statewide ticket already includes an entrepreneur and political outsider candidate for governor, a Black Jamaican American and veteran candidate for lieutenant governor, and a Hispanic candidate for attorney general. It will be strengthened by the 23 women, 8 minorities, 20 veterans, 18 young Republicans, and 35 business owners running for the House of Delegates.
Bob Frizzelle – Virginia House District 67
Bob has experience working through complex issues from his time overseas in the Air Force and as Vice President at Northrop Grumman and Booz Allen Hamilton. He is a proud father of five and an active member of his community, volunteering at New Life Church and as President of his Homeowners Association. In Richmond, Bob will prioritize keeping divisive politics out of the classroom, serve as an ally to our law enforcement officers, and uphold public safety.
Phillip Scott – Virginia House District 88 – @philscottva
Phillip has worked in construction his whole life and now leads a team of background investigators for a government contractor. He is an active local leader serving on the Spotsylvania County Citizens Budget Review Committee and the Board of Directors for his Property Owners Association. Phillip is a devout Christian and dedicated family man focused on creating a better Virginia for his five daughters. He will fight for lower taxes and decrease health care costs.
Keith Hodges – Virginia House District 98
Delegate Hodges is a 3rd generation Middle Peninsula resident and small business owner currently representing Virginia’s 98th District. His commitment to his community has led him to serve on the Board of Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Relay for Life, and multiple local chambers of Commerce. Delegate Hodges has tackled one of the most pressing issues in the Middle Peninsula community by launching an opioid task force to combat the crisis and orchestrated the first regional economic summit focused on bringing businesses back to his region. Keith will be a champion for Virginia families.
Nick Freitas – Virginia House District 30 – @NickForVA
Delegate Freitas spent 11 years in the Army and did two tours in Iraq with Special Forces before settling down with his family in Culpeper, where he currently represents Virginia’s 30th District. He orchestrated Senator Bryce Reaves’s record-breaking grassroots campaign in Culpeper before being unanimously elected Culpeper County GOP Chairman. Delegate Freitas is committed to protecting individual liberties and limiting government.
Maureen Brody – Virginia House District 39
Maureen is a lifelong Virginian and small business owner who has been volunteering in the Fairfax community for the past 35 years. She has volunteered in her church, the Parent Teacher Association, and Homeowners Association. She will protect the right to life, fight for good-paying jobs, and reign in the out-of-control government overreach in Richmond.
Philip Hamilton – Virginia House District 57 – @HamiltonForVA
Philip owns and operates Hamilton Legal Services and Hamilton Historical Records in Charlottesville. He was inspired to seek public office after watching career politicians in Richmond botch the state’s COVID-19 response. Philip will work to get every child back in the classroom and help struggling businesses by slashing regulations and lowering taxes.
Jay Leftwich – Virginia House District 78
Delegate Leftwich is a lifelong Chesapeake resident, former School Board Chairman, and Partner at Basnight, Kinser, Leftwich & Nuckolls, P.C. His innovative leadership earned him the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s “Champion of Freedom” award and the Virginia Clerks Association’s “Legislator of the Year” award. Delegate Leftwich will continue to advocate for increasing support for Veterans, keeping our schools safe, and expanding trade programs and apprenticeships.
Wren Williams – Virginia House District 9 – @WrenWilliamsVA
Wren is the owner of Schneider & Williams Law Firm and has served as Patrick County Republican Chairman. Under his leadership the Patrick County GOP flipped the Board of Supervisors to Republican control and won the Republican Party of Virginia’s “Unit of the Year” award. Wren will bring the same grit and determination to Richmond to fight for expanding school choice, lowering taxes, and defending the Second Amendment.
